Calling a Thing what it is: Lenten journey overcoming economic oppression-A Sermon
The tent cities,
That embarrassment hidden away,
On Wacker Drive,
And along our expressways
Huddled underneath viaducts
In a city which claims the moniker of being,
World class
But treats anyone that does not adhere to
An upper middle-class mentality
As trash
(pause)
The men tattered,
At 55th and the Dan Ryan
Begging for the things
That we take for granted
Waiting for an opportunity,
To quench the hunger that is always constant
Asking for permanent solutions to escape the darkness
That they are trapped in
(pause)
Students,
That are not a part of the status quo,
