An opportunity to profess the Creator’s Love for All: A Wedding Sermon, for the marriage of Jocelyn and Oliver
Grace and Peace to you,
My sisters
Brothers and
Siblings
In Christ
In Faith
In Love.
Love should not be taken lightly,
Love encompasses more
Than our humanity can even fathom
Love is the bond that we cling to
But not just for selfish reasons
Love is because
Of the One
Whose birth into this world
Shatters any misconception,
That we are not beloved
Or unforgivable
Shatters the lies
That this world tries to tell us,
Tries to bury us in doubt
Tries to block the healing light
Of the Creator God
Shatters any notion
That we are unworthy,
Because we sometimes
Experience brokenness
But,
Because of the Love
From the One
Who created us with stardust
Because of that love,
Brought into this world
Just one of the examples
Of the Creator’s expression
Of love,
Jesus Christ.

We are in this time,
When we are awaiting
This profound moment
Of
TRANSFORMATION
In a world,
Which seems
To have fallen
So cold.
(pause)
We find ourselves questioning,
Whether or not
We can still embrace
Welcome in
Happiness
And
Joy,
In a world
Which seemingly
Rejects
Love.
(pause)
And we also find ourselves
Questing
Praying
Hoping
That we do not have to embark on this journey
Winding throughout this life,
Alone.
(pause)
Regardless of all the talk
Around individualism,
And standing on our own two feet,
That this world tries to indoctrinate us with,
The Creator did not mean for us,
To experience this world
This life,
Alone.
(pause)
And when we finally stumble
Into this thing call love-
We need to remember,
That love is going to change us,
Challenge us
Stretch who we are,
And open our heart
Our very being,
To someone
Who is willing
To be challenged
To take those risks
To be imperfect
Knowing that,
When things get rough
There is always someone,
Who has our back
Who will love us,
Regardless.
(pause)
In that expression of love,
Of relationship
Of bonding
Is the reflection,
Of what the Creator God wants for us
And because of that love we exude,
Not only in our relationships
But in turn,
Because of our happiness,
We can’t help but allow it to flow out
Into other spaces,
Being that love that vibrates
To infect others-
So that then we are living out what the Creator God calls of us..
“That Love Thy Neighbor thing?
I meant it”
(pause)
There is a song,
Called Open Up
By Lindsey Webster,
And in her lyrics,
she sings
“You are light, you are joy
Sharing peace all around you
With your love I will open up”
(pause)
This,
Is what
We are witnessing today,
Because there is still hope,
In this fractured world
To find that love,
A reminder,
From the Creator
That we are never
Alone.
