This is me #dualspirituality

Apparently, throughout the pandemic not only did I listen to podcasts like the White Vault, Welcome to NightVale, everything LeVar Burton Reads, The Black Tapes. Tanis, Kings Falls AM and so many others, I began to dream about being more present and sharing my stories about the unique spiritual and faith journey that I have been on for well, the past two decades or so.

Enter in then Theology of a Dualistic Daughter, my journey of the intersectionality of spirituality, faith, Ancestors and liberation from religion that is steeped in the Empire.

Check out my current episode:

The Way, featuring…

Isaiah 40:6 — A voice says, “Unmute yourself!” And I said, “How do I unmute?”

Words flowing in this age of Zoom and this hopeful time of Advent, from Isaiah 40:6 “A Voice says, Unmute yourself! But why shall I unmute?”

A voice says, “Declare!”
But what shall I declare?
All life is like the grass.
All of its grace and beauty fades like the wild flowers in a field.

Check back here throughout the season of Advent for featured contributors offering their reflections. While it may not be daily (#thanks2020), there will be content featured here.

The prompts for the entire season of Advent are as follows:

“To pray

is to take notice of the wonder,

to regain the sense of the mystery

that animates all beings,

the divine margin

in all attainments.

Prayer is our humble answer

to the inconceivable surprise of living.

It is all we can offer in return

for the mystery

by which we live.

Who is worthy to be present

at the constant unfolding of time?

Amidst the meditation of mountains

the humility of flowers

— wiser than all alphabets —

clouds that die constantly

for the sake of beauty,

we are

The great,

Jewish scholar

“To love another person is to see the face of God.”

Victor Hugo, Les Miserables.

What is reflected back

To your very being,

When you see

This is the face,

And the stride

Of a Woman

Deeply rooted in her commitment

Rising from a place of crumbling ashes

Picking up her stride

Back on her Emmaus journey

Towards a place of renewed health

And unwavering faith,

Teaching others

Being an example

Of how to lean upon God,

No matter what the obsticles

She is an Elder

A Matriarch

A symbol of wisdom and knowledge

A Teacher

One of my new projects peeps! So much has been happening AND I need to massively update this blog so here we go!

“Womanist is to feminist, as purple is to lavender.” Alice Walker spoke of the strength and the importance of Women, especially Women of Culture/Language and yes, even sexuality. These shades are vibrant and empowering just as in these times of global pandemic, injustice with regards to civil and human rights, it is the Women, who are leading the charge towards transformative change and liberation. Setting the stage then begins in the communities that we are called to…

Me at another crossroads to begin a journey anew

I am still here.

The global pandemic of COVID-19 thrust me into almost daily interaction with the community I serve; task force duties on a couple of committees I was thrust in, and constantly creating content.

So I forgot to post here.

But, I have updates.

First, I will be updating several sermons I have been doing.

Second, this:

As a part of the theological, academic and spiritual work that is ongoing throughout every aspect that I am involved in, starting this summer I will be inviting those of you into my personal journey of intersectionality through podcast form.

In these times

When we are struggling

In keeping our authentic,

When we can’t just dismiss someone’s pain

With a cliché verse from Scriptures

When we profess

In our liturgy

But not always

With our actions

Our claim

To follow

We oppose every selfless act

With our limited grasp

For status

Greedy to hoard

God’s Grace

For ourselves

And those who think as we

Apathetic and unmoving

To wider our sacred spaces

To welcome those who are seeking God,

And beloved community

That need the comfort from those

Who are…
